Osamu Ishihara, MD, PhD
After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Gunma University in 1980 he was trained at the University of Tokyo and awarded his PhD from the University of Tokyo Graduate School. He stayed and worked for 20 months at Hammersmith Hospital in UK from 1989 to 1991 as a visiting research fellow of the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London. Clinically, he has been working in the field of infertility therapy and reproductive endocrinology and has long-standing research interests in the various aspects of infertility, especially ovulation induction and implantation. He has trained many medical graduates as reproductive endocrinologists since 1991 as well as medical students. He also works as a part-time anthropologist with his colleague anthropologists researching various socio-cultural issues in infertility and related areas for nearly 10 years.
